I'm wondering why you want to exclude "XMLified versions of SGML applications", since these will doubtless be lots of these. Many companies are trying to make the leap from SGML to XML. Dismissing this applications would be a mistake, since in many ways they will be some of the most mature and robust applications to appear in the XML arena for some time.
