But that's (almost) what xslj does!  (xslj requires some minor
modifications to DSSSL, IIRC, but possibly these will be rolled into
the standard.)

xslj translates an XSL stylesheet to an equivalent DSSSL `program'.
Including the EcmaScript stuff...
