In the schemas I'm developing, namespaces are used not for
disambiguation but for traceability.  Individual schemas are built
from a library of schema modules, each with its own namespace; they
will number several hundred when complete.  Each module is built from
a UML logical data model by mapping the entity classes, entity class
attributes, and relationship links onto XML elements.  The namespace
name of the elements in the module is correlated with the LDM, so that
it is always readily apparent for any element in a document where the
LDM is that supplies its meaning.
