I am looking at the so-called soft landing
of the semantic web notion to determine how 
this can be realistically considered in 
the creation of web-hosted services.  Respect 
is probably synonomous with consent in the 
sense that one has to consent to the use 
of the taxonomy from some group or consent 
to the authority of the guidelines.  Authority 
is a legal concept based on ownership and 
control processes applied to an artifact, 
eg, distribution, change control, access, 
etc.  A record of authority may be a named 
artifact which by mutual consent governs. 
One usually has to examine a heterarchy of 
hierarchical authorities to apply the 
concepts of quality of service in aggregates.  
For the user of systems such as XLang (BizTalk 
orchestration), it is critical to have a 
reasonably easy means to determine QOS when 
assembling services using high-level descriptors.

Have you evaluated RDF as a system for 
your work?  How does it stack up next 
to other systems?

I am afraid that authority is established through respect.  A system is
defined for a certain group of users and guidelines for usage are
established.  Those using the system mutally agree to respect the guidelines
(or they create their own system).

And jargon DOES have to be incorporated into the system, no question.  But
how this gets done depends on the system you create (which should
distinguish between use of a "taxonomy" and use of a "thesaurus").

Finally, faceted classification schemes can be used to handle fuzziness and
inter-domain associations (the taxonomy dictates the facets but those facets
can be flexibly combined in many ways to create associations; you are not
locked into a rigid system - - in my mind, the only way to go on the web
......).

What *exactly* are you trying to do - - is there a succinct write-up
anywhere?
