[XML-DEV Mailing List Archive Home] [By Thread] [By Date] [Recent Entries] [Reply To This Message] another data point - OASIS
We keep talking about IETF/W3C/ISO, but there's another organization that might be worth examining, whose work seems generally separate from (though similarly interlocking with) IETF and W3C. Jon Bosak posted a piece on OASIS' technical committee model a bit over a week ago: http://lists.xml.org/archives/xml-dev/200010/msg00085.html He describes the OASIS TC process there, and points to the more formal description as well: http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/process.shtml It's interesting stuff, and new. OASIS has a $250 annual fee for individuals who want to participate, but Jon made clear that TC process could include more open contribution models, like xml-dev discussion of SAX. I haven't participated directly in OASIS, though I'm certainly considering it given this latest move acknowledging the possibility of open participation. At the very least, it's yet another model, if a very new one. Simon St.Laurent XML Elements of Style / XML: A Primer, 2nd Ed.
