Subject:Flat file to XML conversion in Batch mode Author:Vikas Singh Date:23 Jul 2009 02:36 AM
Hi,
I need to convert huge number of flat files to xml in batch mode(we are migrating database from one to another, in which, we will be provided with source as huge number of flat files and we have to convert it to XMLs).
Currently I am using Stylus studio 2009 XML (Evaluation copy).
Please help me by stating the brief steps to execute this task by using this tool.
Thanks.

Actually, frankly, right now I am not enough skilled to write XQuery at this point of time(as it is a last moment requirement from client).
Is it must to learn xquery to run the conversion in Batch mode?
Can we use Stylus studio for this purpose?

Let me explain the scenario:
We are migrating data in a particular database to another(without using any ETL tools).
Client right now has two back-office systems:
-- From one, they will provide the data in flat files which we need to convert in XMLs
--From second, they will provide data in different XML format which we will be customising/converting to our system requirement(XML)i.e. XML to XML conversion
Now the issue is with the number of flat files/input xml files, this has to be done in command line or batch mode.
Looking forward for valuable input.
Thanks!!
