I am trying to compare two folders that contain similar named files.
However after loading the source and target folders when I click the diff button I get the error: You have to select changed or matching XML files to run XML files diff.
Files can be successfully compared if individually the files are compared.
Files can also be compared by XML Spy. Error message is attached.
I am using the enterprise edition 2007 build 735f

In order to compare whole folders, the files with matching names
in each side are compared. If there are no common names between
the two folders, then how would Stylus Studio know which files
in the first correspond to which in the second?

Each file in folder 1 has a corresponding file in folder 2 with the same name. Even then diff folders is not working.
Equivalent feature in XMLSpy is working fine.

Folder diff compares 2 folder trees looking at the file names and file sizes, as well as position in tree. It does not try to open file and look into the content.
First, because this can take quite long, and second, the folders can contain non-XML files that XML diff can not compare.
At the same time you can run individual files diff from folder diff dialog. To do this you have to select files that folder diff marked as changed or identical. "Diff Files" button will run individual files diff for those 2 selected files, NOT folder diff.
Folder diff itself starts automatically when "Source Folder" and "Target Folder" fields are populated. It shows progress bar and abort button in the left bottom part of the dialog while working.
By default only xml files are displayed. If you want to see complete list of files you'll have to change visible file types in "Show files of type" combobox.
Folder diff reports following differences in files and folders :
1. File or folder added
2. File or folder removed
3. File or folder name have cvhanged
4. File size have changed
