Subject:SS4.5.103m Crash: About to do Search and Replace Author:Lee Humphries Date:09 Jan 2003 12:13 AM
I had just pressed Ctrl-H to repeat a Search and Replace I had just done on another file and SS Crashed.
I only had one instance of Stylus running, within which I had one HTML and three XSLT files open.

Unfortunately the log is only telling us that the crash happened inside
OLEAUT32.DLL. Can you tell us more about what was the state of the
application?
- For instance, what did you use to edit the HTML file? (the XSLT, XML or
the Java editor?)
- You also refer to a previous Search and Replace operation: on which
document was it performed, and which was the document you were going to
start the new one?
- Finally, what is the operating system you are using? the log file reports
that you are using vbscript.dll version 5.6.0.7426 (that should be shipped
only with Windows XP SP1) but your version of oleaut32.dll is 2.40.4518,
that should be available on Windows 2000 SP3 or a system with Internet
Explorer 6 (Windows XP SP1 should have version 3.50.5016.0). If you can
reproduce the crash Stylus by performing a Search and Replace operation
twice, it could be possible that the newer vbscript.dll (that is used in
this task) is somehow incompatible with the older oleaut32.dll.

For the HTML I was using the XML editor. I had actually cut the thing right down to its CSS - in other words I had completely removed all other actual HTML from the document.

I had just done the Search and Replace on the HTML and was attempting to repeat it on one of the XSLTs. The other two XSLT files I had open for reference.

I'm running W2K with absolutely every update available applied, including the non work related stuff like DirectX and Media Player.

I retried the operation as soon as I restarted Stylus and it worked fine.
Here's the only other clue I can give you. I had just come back from lunch and had been using Stylus for less than five minutes when it crashed.
