Subject: Re: Title of html can't be chinese? Author: Minollo I. Date: 06 Dec 2001 10:51 AM

Thanks for the testcase.
We've tried importing the .html file using the HTML->XSLT document wizard,
and we've obtained slightly different results on Windows 2000 and XP.
On XP, we could see the Chinese font without problems (the "Batang" font
was automatically chosen to display the text).
On Windows 2000, on one machine the "MS Song" font was automatically
chosen, and we could still see the Chinese text without problems; but on
another machine "Batang" was chosen ("MS Song" was not available), and we
couldn't see the Chinese text; we had to manually switch font (through
Edit|Change Font or pressing the "F" button in the XSLT editor window), and
the only one which would properly work was "SimSun".
So, the encoding is properly handled by Stylus Studio; the only problem
here seems to be that some fonts claim to be able to display the Chinese
text you are using, but reality is that only a few of them really do (and
which one depends on the version of your Windows system...)
Once you find the font that works fine for you, you may want to set it as
the default font in Tools|Options|Editor Format (choose the XSLT Editor in
the drop down list); the default font will always be used to display your
source if it claims to be able to handle the submitted text.
Hope this helps,
Minollo
