Danny CostaSubject: I don't have the Mapper tab

Newbie user. Downloaded SylusStudio to allow me to create a xslt via a mapping GUI.

Went to Step 1 of the tutorials Using the XLST Mapper - Getting Started...

"To open the XSLT Mapper:
From the Stylus Studio menu bar, select File > New > XSLT Stylesheet.
Stylus Studio displays the Scenario Properties dialog box.

Click the Cancel button to dismiss the dialog box.
Click the Mapper tab.
Stylus Studio displays XSLT editor with the Mapper tab selected. "

Ummmm. No it doesn't. It don't have the Mapper tab. For a first time user, that's a pretty daunting prospect when the software doesn't even do what the tut suggests, right from the start. Where's my confidence in this software? How do I get the Mapper tab?

Hi Danny,
the XSLT Mapper functionality is not available in Home Edition, but only in Professional and Enterprise (see http://www.stylusstudio.com/buy/compare.html). Are you using Home Edition?

Yep I'm using Home.

But in the Stylus Studio help, there is plenty of mention saying

"The Stylus StudioŽ 2009 User Guide describes features found in all Stylus Studio editions. Alerts, like the one shown here, are used to identify documentation describing features found only in particular Stylus Studio editions.

"
There is no alert mentioning that the Mapper tab is not available in Home edition. This makes it pretty obvious that the Mapper tab should be available in Home edition. Seems like the help needs some updating. Once again, doesn't give me much faith in the software!

Hi Danny,

The documentation states

<<"XQuery support is available only in Stylus Studio XML Enterprise Suite and Stylus Studio XML Professional Suite">>

We are sorry you find this confusing, we will try to make it more evident in future releases.

I too just realized I wont be able to use the visual mapper function. This was the main reason I bought Stylus Studio, so yeah, I'm pretty disappointed. I think my confusion came because the free trial version I downloaded did have the mapper. Sure, I should have read the documentation more carefully before I purchased. Do I want to spend another $250 for the mapper? I really don't think so.

Hi Greg,
we are sorry that the version of Stylus Studio you were ready to buy didn't contain the features you expected; I can only suggest contacting stylusstudio@stylusstudio.com providing details about the purchase and asking for a full refund.

Thanks,
Alberto
