Being a newbie at using Stylus, is there a way to disable the application of the default style sheets? FYI... I'm getting output from the [Default: Text and Attributes] - text()|@* stylesheet; which is generating output that is not desired.

You can disable Stylus's adding default templates to your stylesheet, but that will not change the stylesheet's behavior. An attribute()|text() rule and a *|/ rule are built into any XSL processor. Stylus only adds them explicitly for clarity when you're using backmapping and other debug features.
