Hello,
I just got a licensed enterprise version. I made a test application and deployed it on my linux box. Every now and then, the application says "Checking license", and makes an encrypted connection to progress.com on 69.20.66.163. This is, of course, not permitted in our production networks.
Will the application still be able to run when there is no network connection? If so, what delay can I expect in the application?
Is it possible to turn off this behaviour?

If your application relies on DataDirect XQuery or on the Stylus Studio URI resolver (for non-XML to XML conversions, or for database connectivity), then you need to purchase the proper runtime licenses for those components if you want to deploy your application; the Stylus Studio license entitles you to *development* licenses of such components, not to deployment licenses.
See http://www.stylusstudio.com/deployment/faq.html for more details and contact information; additional details and contact information for DataDirect XQuery are available at www.xquery.com

I read the adapter page, but I am not sure I understand. Do you mean that I cannot run Java applications that I built with the Stylus Studio on other hosts if I don't buy a license for every host?
What do you mean by Stylus Studio URI Resolver? Does an application that uses the "Convert to XML" module with Apache FOP/Xalan/Xerces use the URI Resolver?

If the generated Java code (or developed XQuer/XSLT) uses conversions created by Convert-to-XML, yes; you need a deployment license to use the conversion capabilities.
Pure use of FOP/Xalan/Xerces doesn't require any specific deployment license from us, of course.
Deployment license costs are quite reasonable; I would encourage you to call us at 781-280-4295 to further discuss this.
