Since an XSLT file is an XML file you could consider massaging your XSLT with XSLT to introduce the function wherever needed. As for a more "general" solution, you'd probably have to hack the processor. Nothing in XSLT 1.0 or 2.0 provides for intercepting results of <xsl:value-of/> on the fly ... even in XSLT 2.0 you would be doing something like adding a private function but having to invoke it for every calculation. . . . . . . .
