You should probably check the XSLT SVG barcode generator, referenced e.g. in the XSLT FAQ: http://www.dpawson.co.uk/xsl/sect3/barcodes.html Apache FOP will put this as scalable graphic into the PDF which may or may not suit your needs. Using barcode4j, either as Saxon or as FOP extension, may enable faster processing than the XSLT, but installing it and all the dependencies is more complicated. J.Pietschmann
