I think you are thinking too procedurally.  Keep in mind that XSLT is
not really a bfirst this, then thatb language.  If you can rethink your
problem in terms of bthis output depends on this input,b you should be
able to do it in one step, e.g.: for each record in lookup, generate a
standalone document; if a record in book.xml corresponds to it, include
the book.xml record.
