Before I even look at the rest of this, I wanted to point out my confusion
over reading the first part of your message.  I know Dr. Kay has released
Saxon 9 for Java because we're using to run a bunch of our sites...

I don't know what you mean by uploading it to maven2, but the product
is available from both sourceforge (both basic and licensed edition)
and from the authors own site (the licensed edition):
