In the work I have done with XML exported from MSWord and Excel, I needed to make extensive use of XSLT 2.0 grouping facilities, which have no direct equivalent in XQuery - the only way to achieve the same effect in XQuery requires heavy use of recursive functions, which many users find difficult to master.
