If the expected result is auto-generated, then how do you generate it without reusing the code that you're testing... Functions are easy to test, testing the output from templates markup is harder, as you often need the entire input file. My current recommended approach is to validate the output where possible, and generate tests off of the input. If you're generating HTML use Selenium or Canoo.
