Re: How Can I Reference previous XML in Subsequent It
Got it. Thanks for the quick response.

I resubscribed with my regular email addy, now I see that you mask them in the archives.

As you pointed out, I am very used to learning new languages, but they are all OO/Procedural. I have also had little trouble learning BNF, CSS and [X]HTML, which are static layout languages.

From what I can see of XSLT, it is a **very** limited procedural language, mixed with a layout language, that sits on top of a pretty intense parsing engine. Sort of a "control panel" for the engine.

First of all, this list is a lot about discussing possible and best approaches and people are always very willing to help you out. Your problem seems a fairly trivial task and your "view" of XSLT seems from procedural / oo point-of-view which seems to be in your way of making XSLT work for you.

We'll need some more info and discussion with you to answer your questions. The list is busy, but not very busy (some 20-40 mail/ day) please change your subscription to a normal one so we can have some conversation. I have a lot of questions for you before I can actually start helping you, and others may too, so don't hold your horses for a week and suspect some real answers in the digest, unless you can join the discussion meanwhile (you can always change back to digest afterwards).

Cheers,

(PS: I send you a copy of this message, but I don't want a discussion offlist, so please reply to the list and not my private account)
