I personnally see it as an Object Oriented Pipe:


- Colorful Pipes is my primary mental image

- and Object Oriented definitely, which justifies (at least) the use
of UML and Design Patterns

Sometimes, in bad days, I see the transformation as a big inhuman
factory where data slides unrelentingly on treadmills
