You can save an Excel file to XML in version 2003 or 2007. You will then
need to convert the format to the one you need.
You can also attach a schema more aligned to your data but again you'll need some post-processing although there is an option to save only the data which should make this easier. A similar option is available in Microsoft Word. Another alternative would be to use Open Office and again post-process the XML, this can all be automated on a Windows machine using JavaScript of similar.
