malformed attribute value

Im' having trouble with your code, it stops at the <xsl:copy-of
select="@*[not(self::@name)]" /> telling me that it's expecting a node test
in xsl:copy-of....

The expression "self::@name" doesn't work; it expands to "self::attribute::name" which as you can see is malformed. It turns out you can't find attributes on the self:: axis (in XSLT 1.0), which is too bad for this particular application.

Ragulf offers the two ready solutions: exclude the attribute by testing its name, or selecting the other attributes explicitly instead. Or instead of copying them with copy-of, a third solution would be to use templates to do the copying; the template for @name can filter it out.

Cheers,
Wendell
