The reason you don't get the error when you run the transformation from your editor is probably that you're using an earlier version of Saxon - the rules for EBV (effective boolean value) were changed very recently to introduce this error. I'm afraid the line number information here seems to be off: there's nothing on this line that's calculating EBV directly. It might be that this line is causing a deferred evaluation of the variable $ont and that the error is in the code for initializing that variable (just a guess).
