or use DC's suggestion <xsl:if test="../parent::node() = self::Dynamic1"> That one tests if the string value of all the descendents of your grandparent is equal to the string value of the current node, and that the current node has name Dynamic1. So it will only be true if the current node has name Dynamic and if all other descendents of your grandparent have no PCDATA content.
