As DC said, if you want the character in your output, your 3 examples
are all equivalent (because the entity and character references are
replaced when the stylesheet itself is parsed).  But if you want an
entity or character reference in your output:

&amp;nbsp; or &amp;#160;

<![CDATA[&nbsp;]]> or <![CDATA[&#160;]]>
