   This technique was offered to me by someone else.  It performs quite well,
compared to other attempts to use "ancestor", so I didn't see the need to
change it (unless, for some reason, I couldn't use the node-set extension).
   If you wouldn't mind posting your complete suggested code changes I'd be
happy to run some tests on volume data and report my findings.  Thanks!
