value of vs copy of
I was caught out by this one.
I can't think of a title that captures the problem though.
If someone hasn't appreciated the difference between
copy-of and value-of, then that as a title isn't much use.

Any suggestions please.

Say with xml

 <wrapper>
    <content1/>
    <content2>Text nodes</content2>
    <content3>More text nodes</content3>
 </wrapper>

I 'see'
 <xsl:template match="wrapper">
  <xsl:value-of select="wrapper"/>

showing output of
   Text nodes
   More text nodes

when what I really want is

    <content1/>
    <content2>Text nodes</content2>
    <content3>More text nodes</content3>

for which
 <xsl:template match="wrapper">
  <xsl:copy-of select="*"/>

How do people see the problem, to which the above is the solution please?

regards DaveP.

    this is a FAQ

     <xsl:value-of select="$doc_link"/>

    xsl:value-of gives the string value of the expression, and
    so does not produce any elements.

    You want xsl:copy-of

    (You asked this question under the wrong thread see the
    subject lien above which is for your other question on modes)
