The problem is that our local stylesheet is used on a network of many
different Unix machines, each installing Norman Walsh's stylesheet in
a different place....

The only solution I see is catalogs. Besides added complexity and yet
another XML beast to learn, it would force us to have a properly
managed catalog on each machine.

Is there a better way?

Hm. You want to be able to configure each machine to know where its own local copies are ... but you don't want to have to maintain the configurations.

Seems like a bit of a tough nut to crack. :->

There are really only three ways to go that I can see:

1. Bundle everything together and distribute the bundle as self-contained packages (...let Norm propagate...) 2. Force all the configurations to mirror one another (maybe not possible or a good idea for other reasons) 3. Deal with catalogs and their maintenance
