I think your major problem is that you are using a tool, which hides the
XSLT code and therefore, as any other "WYSIWYG" tool that hides the
underlying programming language, prevents the user from learning it.

Many of the best XSLT professionals are actively contributing to this
mailing list and I haven't heard that any of them is using such an
obfuscating tool.

Professionalism does not correlate positively with using obfuscating tools.
Stick to them and you'll continue to be in the fog and have such problems.

On the other side, there is nothing frightening in learning the real
thing --  XSLT itself. There are good books on XSLT and some really good
XSLT Interactive Development Environments. There are many people on this
list that are willing to help.
