javascript url parameter

Hi

I am trying to pass a parameter to the URL so i can type:

www.mypage.com/index.html?page1 and get the first page of my document.

On the top of my stylesheet i have declared the parameter: <xsl:param name="page_number" select=" 5 "/> This was for testing!

Know i would like to change this somehow and with javascript to get the parameter from the url.

I don't know much about javascript so any help would be great.

Leo
