I'm still scratching my head over that one.  They guys who setup our CMS
made the decision, probably because they thought parsing the DOM would be
too costly.  I know that parsing it out on each request is not a viable
option, so my original question is rather moot, and we'll have to jump
through some object caching hoops to finally figure this one out.

What the hell were they thinking...
