</xsl:choose>/ don't do that do this </xsl:choose><xsl:text>/</xsl:text> or even </xsl:choose>/<xsl:text/> or </xsl:choose> <xsl:text>/</xsl:text> If you keep all literal characters inside text nodes taht just contain those characters then you can have arbitrary white space between xsl instruction elements used to indent teh stylesheet. but if you go </xsl:choose>/ <xsl:choose> then that text node consists of a / and two newlines, and the whole text node will get copied to the result.
