Is the url you're passing to the document function relative? If so, have you
checked that they base-url is the same?

Thanks for response. 

My url is an http call to the same server on which the transformation is
occurring;
eg

'http://myserver/sql2000virdir/templates/query.xml'

I've found other examples on the web doing similar but not idenitcal things.
Any ideas?
