The "magic" parameter to use in the Cocoon sitemap is:

<map:serialize type="html"/>

Typically type="html" is the default anyway, so this would work too:

<map:serialize/>

But NOT:

<map:serialize type="xml"/>

If you serialize the document as XML, you WILL get tags like: 
<script .... />
... as you should!
