I made it a habit starting each and every template body with <xsl:comment> ... </xsl:comment>, and that comment states the name of the template (or the "match" phrase, whichever applicable). I find this an enormous help when wading through the generated output (where the heck did that come from?), and a good tag to search for when investigating transformation results.
