BTW, the dot (.) syntax for context node comes from the XPath specification (see http://www.w3.org/TR/xpath#path-abbrev). XPath is used by XSLT, but it is a separate specification. Perhaps that is why you have searched hard and come up empty handed. Aside from the XPath specification itself, XPath is explained in several good books. My personal favorites are XSLT Programmers Reference, 2nd edition, Michael Kay, Wrox Press, and Essential XML, Don Box, et al., Addison-Wesley. Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll be gone every weekend. Cheers, Stuart XSL-List info and archive: http://www.mulberrytech.com/xsl/xsl-list
