xsl if help
Gabriel, I am able to run your example just fine. Perhaps the problem is
the context that goes around the fragments that you showed. Here are my
complete XSLT stylesheet and XML source documents:

--- XML source ---
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<stuff>
  <var name="athing">3.14</var>
</stuff>

--- XSLT stylesheet ---
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"
    version="1.0">

  <xsl:output method="text"/>

  <xsl:template match="/">
    <xsl:if test="/stuff/var[@name='athing']='3.14'">You matched
it!</xsl:if>
  </xsl:template>

</xsl:stylesheet>

When I perform this transformation I get the "You matched it!" text
string as output.

Cheers,
Stuart
