The Apache FOP home page says;

"Output formats currently supported are PDF, PCL, PS, SVG, XML (area
tree representation), Print, AWT, MIF and TXT. The primary output target
is PDF." (http://xml.apache.org/fop/index.html)

and

"PDF is the best supported output format."
(http://xml.apache.org/fop/output.html#)

so I am now entirely confused.
