xpath result
If you look here:
http://www.w3.org/TR/2001/REC-xml-c14n-20010315#Example-DocSubsets, the
result of the query is a node set of e1, e3 and ID, which are strung
together in a manner that seems a bit haphazard - any node which is an
ancestor of the highest matched node in DOM hierarchy is returned as an
immediate child - e3 child of e1, in the output. Does this method of
creating output apply to all nodes? I would have thought that the XPATH
function, string () has some rules, somewhere in this respect.
