xalan c extension function nodeset
If you go

<xsl:param name="ggg">
		<xxx>bbb</xxx>
		<zzz>aaa</zzz>
	</xsl:param>

(similarly with xsl:variable) then the variable holds a result tree
fragment, not a node set.

You may not use / or any other node set operations on a result tree fragment,
only copy to the result tree, or use as a string.

so

<xsl:value-of select="$ggg/zzz"/>

is an error.

Most processors (including xalan) have a node-set extension function in
some extension namespace to convert result tree fragments into node
sets.

David
