Doing: <xsl:value-of select="child" /> while the current node is the parent node *should* give you the entirety of the text. An XSLT processor should not care about the quotation marks in element content at all. So if you're getting something different, there's either something wrong with your stylesheet, or something wrong with your XSLT processor, or something wrong with how you're calling it. Perhaps you can give more details about your stylesheet, your processor, and how you're using the processor, so we can narrow down the source of the problem?
