Oh, inside an element. You mean something like this?

    <graphic>
	images/foo.jpg
    </graphic>

In that case you probably want something like:

   <xsl:template match="graphic">
       <IMG SRC="{normalize-space()"}/>
   </xsl:template>

normalize-space() strips any leading and trailing whitespace. With no
arguments, it is applied to the string value of the current node.
