TexML, in my view, is redundant. It was useful back when writing
XML-to-whatever converters was a bit hard, but now I would say
thatwriting XML to TeX directly in XSLT is so easy that we do not need
the extra step of TeXML. It does not actually provide any more
functionality, just a slight amount of elegance (at the cost of extra
step)
