It doesn't surprise me in the slightest that there are lots of dark corners
of the XSLT spec that are unknown territory to many people.

What I do find surprising is when people invent completely new language
constructs out of nowhere and hope they will have some desirable effect.
Perhaps this is part of the psychology of a permissive language in which
most things you write do something, even if it wasn't what you intended: it
leads to a "try it and see" culture.

I made the remark as an observation of user behavior, not as a criticism.
