I've had occasion to do the same, but with limited success, I think it depends
on the parser.

Sablotron (http://www.gingerall.com) had some limited support for this sort
of thing with in memory buffers and special URL's, but when I needed it, it
hadn't been put in the perl interface, so I ended up doing what I needed to
do using other means.
