Did you mean to put the "{}" around the variable? They don't belong there.
In other words:

You have:
<xsl:value-of select="{$param1}"/>

Should be:
<xsl:value-of select="$param1"/>

Hi,

the UseStylesheetParam example in Xalan does not work
like the XLT-spec of w3c says:
  xsl:value-of select="$param1" /
is ok. The string is copied to the place.

But
  xsl:value-of select="{$param1}" /
makes an error: wrong character.....

Any solution, or do i misunderstand it?
