Your XSL system would not even have seen the expression as it would have
been rejected by the XML parser.

XML attributes have to be of the form xxx="yyy" or xxx='yyy' and you
have
<aaaa xxx="yyy" BAD xxx="zzz"/>
                ^^^

what you want is

<xsl:value-of select="totalDaysOverdue div finePerDay"/>
