Sending output to a specific file

sending output to file
Can you tell me if some of the output of an xsl operation can go to a
specific filename while processing within another xsl file? In my tests
I can easily send my entire output to a file from the command line, but
I want to specify a file within the xsl to have some of my output go to
so I can use it later.

Any help would be appreciated.

Mike
