Fw: syntax question: using a variable inside format-number()

Actually,

<xsl:value-of
select="format-number(concat('/AssetAnalyzer/',$curcat),'#00%')"/>

I believe will work.

I just realized the value of $curcat was not always matching the value in
/AssetAnalyzer/$curcat

what I mean is $curcat was being set to a value of "Domestic Equity" but the
full path of the element I was trying to get to is
/AssetAnalyzer/domesticEquity

so I have a little reorganizing to do
