RE: retrieving a piece of data from a different xml file
When I try to display my page in IE5 the following data generates "The XML
page cannot be displayed. Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet....
Unspecified error..." The line it references is completely unrelated, but
when I comment out the link template (which is what I'm trying to get to
work correctly), everything displays correctly. Can someone point out where
I've gone wrong (in novice terms please!) Thanks much! Eric : )

In XML:
  <link page="test1" text="link to test1"/>

In XSL:
  <xsl:template match="link">
    <xsl:if test="@page">
      <xsl:variable name="locs"
select="document('\docs\pagelocations.xml')"></xsl:variable>
      <A>
        <xsl:attribute name="href">
          <xsl:value-of select="$locs/pages/page[@name =
current()/@page]/@location" />
        </xsl:attribute>
        <xsl:attribute name="target">new_window</xsl:attribute>
        <xsl:value-of select="@text"/>
      </A>
    </xsl:if>
  </xsl:template>

In \docs\pagelocations.xml:
  <?xml version="1.0"?>
  <pages>
    <page name="test1" location="d:\xml\test\test1.xml"/>
    <page name="test2" location="d:\xml\test\test2.xml"/>
  </pages>
